Molly is a talented pop rock singer from Nova Scotia. She has had multiple nominations for Music Nova Scotia and East Coast Music Awards, and has achieved finalist slots in the John Lennon Songwriting Contest and the International Song Contest. She won Young Performer of the Year at the 2011 Canadian Folk Music Awards, the “She’s the One” competition at the 2012 Ottawa Bluesfest, and the Emerging Artist Series at Summerfest in Milwaukee in 2013. Molly was also named one of Canada’s Top 20 Under 20 by Youth In Motion for her work as a human rights activist.

Although this is Molly’s first role, she is no stranger to the world of film and tv. Mom, Shelley Thompson, is a well established actress best known for best known for her character Barbara Lahey on the hit Canadian mockumentary program Trailer Park Boys and dad, Ed Thomason, is the Artistic Director of Theatre Antigonish.

At only 19 years-old, Molly Thomason’s third record, Columbus Field, captures the undeniable excitement and no-holds barred romance of youth. Think of crazy kids, lots of guitars, and real-life small-town summer nights. It is classic rock and roll, ushered into 2014 by a firecracker of a girl.

After opening for the Collective Soul 20th anniversary tour in April, Molly performed at NXNE, Luminato Festival, and World Pride in Toronto, and opened for The Trews and Kim Mitchell. Molly will continue to win over audiences this summer with shows at Stan Rogers Folk Festival, Evolve Festival, PEI Confederation Celebration 2014, Maritime Music Festival, and Halifax Pride. In September, Molly heads to the US to do residencies in New York, Boston, and Philadelphia.

Molly’s dynamic, elastic voice could out-sing Hayley Williams while matching Neko Case and Carrie Brownstein in gravity, passion, and crush inspiration. She tells her truth sincerely – thrillingly – with brutal, inspiring honesty. With John Angus MacDonald (The Trews) producing and on lead guitar, Jason “Cone” McCaslin of Sum 41 on bass, Nick DeToro (Sloan) on drums and at the board, and mixed by Big Sugar’s Gordie Johnson with Howie Weinberg (Nirvana, Modest Mouse) on mastering duty – Columbus Field is a hook-laden bullet of a record.
